African Nations Championship to Proceed Despite Coronavirus Concerns

Unlike other competitions, which are being suspended, the African Nations Championship (CHAN) for local players, scheduled to take place in Cameroon in April, has been maintained by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
In a press release published by the daily Al Massae, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided to maintain the organization of the CHAN, scheduled in Cameroon, from April 4 to 25. This decision does not seem to be unanimous, as the host country and some participants have already recorded cases of coronavirus.
In this regard, an inspection visit by the CAF medical commission is expected on March 14 and 15, 2020 in Cameroon to assess all the preventive measures taken by the local organizing committee.
In addition to the CHAN which is maintained, the Champions League and the CAF Cup, as well as the 2021 CAN qualifiers scheduled for the end of March, for which Gambia and Rwanda have requested a postponement, are also maintained.
