Affaire des chèques sans provision : l'humoriste Hamza Filali libéré de prison

The Moroccan comedian Hamza Filali has regained his freedom after a period of detention related to cases of bounced checks. His friend, the artist Souilah, announced that the person concerned was able to leave the penitentiary following the obtaining of waivers from several plaintiffs.

This release was made possible thanks to the mobilization of a group of artists who intervened to close the file and put an end to the crisis faced by the comedian in recent days. Hamza Filali had been facing serious financial difficulties for several months, trying to repay his creditors by selling personal goods and equipment. However, the extent of the commitments had ended up exceeding his payment capacities, bringing the case before the courts.

According to the details provided by Souilah, this situation results from Hamza Filali’s involvement in a commercial project that he himself described as "haram". The comedian would have been attracted by promises of very high profits, close to 150,000 dirhams per month. He finally discovered that the actual income was not enough to cover the issued checks and the accumulated debts.
