AFCON 2024: Morocco Tipped as Strong Contender, Potential Maghreb Derby Looms

French coach Roland Courbis believes the Moroccan team has all the assets to go far in the Africa Cup of Nations, which kicked off on Saturday in Côte d’Ivoire.
Courbis expressed his desire to see a "Maghreb derby" between the Moroccan and Algerian teams during this Africa Cup, saying he has friendships with several players from both countries. In a television interview, the French coach highlighted the great similarities between the Moroccan and Algerian teams, both in terms of playing style and the quality of the players.
Morocco will face Tanzania on Wednesday, January 17 at the Laurent Pokou stadium. Achraf Hakimi and his teammates will play their two remaining group matches against the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia on January 21 and 24.
