AFCON 2023: Zambia Faces Must-Win Match Against Qualified Morocco

The coach of the Zambian team, Avram Grant, assured that his players will "fiercely defend their chances" against the Atlas Lions this Wednesday, as part of the third and final group stage match of the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
"This is a very important match for us. The Moroccan team has secured its qualification and will play without pressure, but we need the three points to reach the round of 16," Grant said Tuesday at the pre-match press conference.
The Zambian coach is aware that Morocco is undoubtedly "better than us" on paper, but warns that "we also have good players." "The Moroccan team is formidable. It impressed everyone with its performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. They have excellent players," he said.
And to continue: "We will face the best team in Africa. The Moroccan team has a cohesive group, but we must defend our chances, because football is full of surprises, and the best does not always win."
Grant assured that his players are very determined to win this match and secure their ticket for the round of 16. "Zambia has shown a strong personality in the two previous matches, and tomorrow we will see the reaction of the players," he concluded. Kick-off is scheduled for 9pm at the Laurent Pokou stadium in San Pedro.
