Actress Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Antics from Cult French Comedy Series ’H’

French actress Catherine Benguigui has made confidences about the series H broadcast on Canal+ from 1998 to 2002, in which she, her colleague the Franco-Moroccan comedian Jamel Debbouze and many other actors played roles.
20 years later, Catherine Benguigui talks about the series H, her colleagues Jamel Debbouze, Ramzy Bedia, Eric Judor, Sophie Mounicot and Jean-Luc Bideau who were part of the cast and the shootings. "It was funny. There were fire extinguisher battles. Sometimes we were waiting for Jamel or Ramzy, they had gone to try out their new car on the highway in Plaine-Saint-Denis. That’s it, it was madness. It was punk, as they say," she had revealed to the Sérisonique podcast of Télé 7 jours on April 15.
While this series was a great success, Catherine Benguigui decided to leave the adventure at the end of season 2 without mentioning, at the time, the reasons for her choice. This is now done. Being the woman on the set had become unbearable for the actress. The role she played as well. She played the role of Béa, an intern at the hospital and the punching bag of the men. "It was really complicated. I had the impression that the character did not exist, or existed, but only as a victim. There were moments when it was difficult," the actress had confided.
And to continue: "I was fed up, even if it was a character, of taking it all in the face. I wanted there to be a change, and it was going around in circles. It was a choice that was initially difficult to assume, but I was so uncomfortable in the end that I didn’t see the point."
