Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal, the Moroccan gem who is reviving Rennes
Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal, a 19-year-old Moroccan player, scored his first professional goal on Sunday against Nice (1-2), giving hope to Stade Rennais, whose key players were no longer able to find the back of the net.
While his club was under pressure from Nice and the starting players were struggling to come back, Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal managed to score a goal that woke up the Roazhon Park. In the 67th minute, the Moroccan gem headed in a free kick, giving hope to his team. A technical gesture that his more experienced teammates have been unable to do for several weeks.
The young player had attracted the interest of several major European clubs like Liverpool, but he ultimately preferred to join Rennes for its expertise in developing young talents. The Moroccan gem did not have an easy path. Expelled from his first official match against OM in August, then loaned to Amiens, Ait Boudlal had to prove himself to establish himself in the Rennes squad.
With Habib Beye increasingly losing the trust of the club’s management and the supporters expressing their anger at the Roazhon Park, the arrival of this young Moroccan striker could change the game for Rennes. At 19 years old, Aït Boudlal is coming to give hope to this club that was sinking despite its stars.
