2026 World Cup: Prices soar for Morocco-Brazil, a "cold shower" for supporters

Bad news for Atlas Lions supporters. The prices of tickets for the 2026 World Cup are skyrocketing on the FIFA’s official resale platform, reaching dizzying heights for the highly anticipated clash between Morocco and Brazil.

The enthusiasm around the semi-finalists of the last World Cup is unabated, much to the dismay of fans’ wallets. According to AFP, tickets for the prestigious confrontation between Morocco and the Seleção, scheduled for June 13, 2026, are experiencing a spectacular inflation. A ticket is now being negotiated around $1,725 on the secondary market, an increase of seven times its initial value. A cold shower for supporters who already considered the official tariffs unveiled in December, ranging from 250 to 665 euros, to be exorbitant.

This speculative frenzy is not limited to the Atlas Lions. The opening match in Mexico City, pitting Mexico against South Africa, sees category 3 seats - located at the top of the stands - climb to $5,324, compared to the original $895. The same is true for the France-Senegal match in East Rutherford, where prices have quintupled to reach $1,000.

The peak of this financial excess concerns the final on July 19. To attend the world championship, one must now pay up to $20,000 for a category 1 seat, nearly triple the already very high official price ($7,875). This surge in prices on the resale platform confirms the fears of a "selection by money," transforming access to the stadiums into an inaccessible luxury for the majority of the general public.
