130-Year-Old Daimler Schroedter-Wagen: Morocco’s First Royal Automobile Marks Historic Anniversary

Schroedter-Wagen, the second car manufactured in 1892 by the German automaker Daimler, celebrates its 130th anniversary. Its first buyer was King Hassan I.
Schroedter-Wagen has weathered the ages. Manufactured in series, 12 copies, between 1892 and 1895, six years after the invention of the automobile, this second Daimler car is blowing out its 130 candles this year. The first historic model of the brand had been sold in 1892 to King Hassan I. This acquisition put an end to the use of horses in the kingdom. At the time, a velvet roof had been added to this car - similar to a horse-drawn carriage - so that it would be more comfortable to live under the Moroccan sun.
Mercedes-Benz considers Schroedter-Wagen as the oldest prestige car in the world. The components of this car are: a steering rack, a toothed wheel with a visible chain between the rear wheels and other mechanical elements, 760 cm3 / 1.8 hp or 1,060 cm3 / 2.1 hp, for a speed of 18 km/h. Its peculiarity: the circulation of its coolant which is directly sent into the steel tubes that form the frame of the vehicle.
"Today, the Daimler Schroedter-Wagen is exhibited alongside other historic models at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany," reports Auto News.
