Ziyech’s Wydad Debut Delayed: Continental Appearance Possible Before League Action
Hicham Aït Menna, president of Wydad Casablanca, denies the rumors that attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech will play in the derby against Raja, scheduled for next Wednesday at the Mohammed V Complex.
"Ziyech will not play the next three league matches," said Hicham Aït Menna. He was keen to specify that the player will not make his official debut in Botola until January. According to him, the former Ajax star could make his continental debut earlier than expected. "We are doing our best to register him in the CAF Cup list. If the administrative procedures are successful, he could make his first appearance as early as November," said the president of Wydad Casablanca.
On Wednesday, Ziyech signed with Wydad Casablanca to revive his career before the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN Morocco 2025). Since June, he had been without a club after mutually terminating his contract with Al Duhail. A club he had joined last January. CFR Cluj recently tried to recruit him before canceling the transfer of the Moroccan player at the last minute. His medical examination revealed a chronic knee injury. Now, the semi-finalist is writing a new chapter in his football career in Morocco.
