Ziyech’s Galatasaray Stint in Jeopardy Amid Coach Conflict

Hakim Ziyech’s Turkish adventure is turning sour. Absent from the Galatasaray squad during the eventful match against Trabzonspor (4-3 win), the Moroccan international seems more than ever on his way out. The cause: execrable relations with his coach, Okan Buruk, which have degenerated into an open conflict.
Incendiary remarks attributed to Ziyech have set the powder keg on fire. According to journalist Haluk Yürekli, the former Chelsea player did not mince his words: "Galatasaray is over for me. I don’t want to play, I’m leaving in January." A scathing disavowal that doesn’t stop there. When questioned about the future of the Istanbul club, he would have added, cynically: "I really don’t care... Let them leave me alone, whatever happens. I already regret having come." The climax of this reaction? A frontal attack on his coach: "I’ve never seen a coach as bad as Okan Buruk."
While these statements, relayed by Spor Gecesi, have not been confirmed by either the player or the club, they show the deep malaise that has reigned between Ziyech and Galatasaray for several weeks now. Some observers evoke the possibility of a destabilization campaign orchestrated to push the player towards the exit.
