Ziyech’s Career Crossroads: Knee Injury Derails Romanian Move
While he was about to sign with CFR Cluj, Hakim Ziyech finds himself without a club again. The Romanian club canceled the transfer of the Moroccan player at the last minute after his medical examination revealed a chronic knee injury. The beginning of the end for the Moroccan international?
Aborted transfer for Ziyech. The Moroccan striker will no longer join the Romanian championship due to a chronic knee injury, discovered during the medical examination he underwent to join the CFR Cluj squad. However, the two parties had reached an agreement for the signing of a one-year renewable contract.
In search of a talented and experienced player to strengthen its attack, the Romanian club had set its sights on Ziyech, who particularly shone in major European clubs such as Ajax Amsterdam and Chelsea. The Atlas Lion went through a bad patch at Galatasaray, then remained without a club for a few months before joining the Qatari club Al-Duhail, which he left after only four months of collaboration.
But the chronic knee injury from which the player suffers, revealed during his mandatory medical examination, raised concerns from the Romanian club’s medical staff, who, as a precautionary measure, preferred to cancel Ziyech’s transfer. According to the doctors, Ziyech’s condition is not stable enough to play a full season, particularly due to the high pressure of European matches.
The non-realization of this agreement is a new blow for the 32-year-old player, who finds himself without a club again after his short experience in Qatar, a championship known to be very weak. Despite his exceptional talent and his ability to make the difference, the career of the Moroccan with the magical left foot could be coming to an end. Let’s hope that a major European or Saudi club will show interest in him during the next winter transfer window.
