Zara Prices in Morocco Shock Spanish TikToker, Highlighting Stark Retail Disparities

A Spanish TikToker is stunned to notice that the products of several stores of the Inditex subsidiary, Zara and Bershka, are offered at much higher prices in Morocco than in Spain.

Marta Oliete is marked by her trip to Morocco. In a video with over a million views on TikTok, she recounts her visit to Zara. The Spanish TikToker went to Tangier in early June. Accompanied by her friend Laura, she visited several stores of the Inditex subsidiary, Zara and Bershka. "Let’s go see a Zara in Morocco, it intrigues me," begins the influencer in her video. The influencer went to compare the prices of "Zara" products between Morocco and Spain. When she and her friend approached a store of the brand, they were both struck by the prices displayed in the window. "What?" Marta wonders. She discovers that the prices are high. "A dress for 120 euros, that doesn’t cost that in Spain," she said.

Their surprise was greater when they entered the store: 43 € for shoes, 32 € for sweatpants or 14 € for a t-shirt. The two friends decide to visit a Bershka store, also from the Inditex group. The finding is the same: the prices are much higher than in Spain. "A garment that in Spain costs maybe 7 €... costs 26.90 € in Morocco," explains the young woman.

The findings made by Marta and her friend were confirmed by Internet users. "Exactly, in Marrakech, all Inditex clothes were overpriced, as if they were reserved for a wealthy clientele," comments a TikTok user. For others, prices have become exorbitant in other countries: "In all countries, the stores of the Inditex group are more expensive than in Spain."
