Yellow Vest Activist Deported: France Expels Moroccan-Born Protester to Casablanca

Activist Abdel Zahiri was expelled from France last night following an obligation to leave the territory. Of Moroccan origin, he was known for his involvement in the Yellow Vest movement.
Zahiri, 44, had evolved towards interviewing activities, targeting personalities who support ideas considered conspiratorial or subversive.
Arrested in Avignon on June 12, according to Le Dauphiné, he was transferred to the administrative detention center in Nîmes, before being boarded for Casablanca early this morning. A consular laissez-passer from the Moroccan authorities had previously been obtained by France.
His lawyer expressed concern about his situation, describing him as "condemned to death". He has no family in Morocco, which complicates his situation. But a hearing scheduled before the Paris administrative court could allow Zahiri, father of three children and married, to return to French territory.
