Yellow Vest Activist Faces Deportation from France over Security Concerns

Abdel Zahiri, a 44-year-old Moroccan, recently received an order to leave French territory from the Vaucluse prefecture. Listed as a security threat, he had previously been incarcerated for his involvement in the Yellow Vest movement.
Since his release, he had devoted part of his time to interviewing personalities supporting conspiracy or subversive theories for a website.
On January 27, the expulsion commission of the Avignon court had issued an unfavorable opinion on his expulsion. This family man had stated that he had put an end to his controversial demonstrations and interviews. However, the Vaucluse prefecture decided not to follow this opinion and issued an order to leave French territory within 45 days.
However, Me Samir Hamroun, Abdel Zahiri’s lawyer, has announced his intention to challenge this prefectural decision before the administrative court.
