Wildfire Ravages 30 Hectares in Morocco’s M’diq Forest, Firefighters Battle Blaze

More than 30 hectares of vegetation have gone up in smoke since the start of the fire ravaging the Koudyat Al Tayfour forest in the M’diq region. Efforts continue to control the fire.
Faced with this situation, the regional director of the National Agency of Water and Forests of Tetouan, Othman Azzaoui, stated that human resources and ground and air intervention mechanisms have been strengthened to contain the fire, reports SNRT News.
The provisional assessment indicates that more than 30 hectares of forest have already been decimated, he specified, adding that no loss of human life has been recorded. The official also stressed that the strong winds contributed to the spread of the fire, which reached a pine area.
The interventions required several teams from civil protection, the National Agency of Water and Forests, the Royal Gendarmerie, the Auxiliary Forces in addition to the Royal Armed Forces. This is in addition to two Canadair planes that made 16 takeoffs to control the fire.
