WHO Warns COVID-19 Pandemic Will Be ’Very Long’, Global Risk Remains High

Six months after declaring the international health emergency, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Saturday that the duration of the coronavirus pandemic will be "certainly very long".
At the end of its fourth meeting in Geneva, the Emergency Committee for Covid-19 indicated that "the risk posed by Covid-19 is very high" and that "the majority of populations in the world can be affected, even those who do not live in heavily affected areas".
For the WHO Director-General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the war against coronavirus is far from over. As proof, he recalls that countries that thought they had "experienced the worst, are now facing a resurgence of new cases".
In total, 17.6 million positive Covid-19 cases are officially recorded worldwide, including 680,000 deaths.
