WHO Praises Morocco as Africa’s Leader in COVID-19 Vaccination Efforts

Morocco tops the table of the vaccination campaign on the African continent. This feat has just been recognized and hailed by the World Health Organization.
During a press conference organized on Thursday by the WHO, Dr. Matshidiso Rebecca Moeti, Regional Director of the Organization for Africa, was clear: "Morocco is the most advanced country in vaccination in Africa". In its report released on Wednesday, the Moroccan Ministry of Health said that a total of 4,410,023 people have received a first dose of the vaccine and 4,038,083 others have received the second, and thus considered fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
This recognition from the WHO comes at a time when the kingdom is forced to slow down its campaign, because faced with supply problems at vaccine producers. This is the case, for example, of India, the world’s leading vaccine producer, which, faced with a very violent second wave of the pandemic and reluctance of its population, has recently decided to suspend the supply of the vaccine abroad, in favor of its population, strong of more than one billion inhabitants.
This performance of the kingdom is remarkable in an Africa that remains behind in vaccinating populations. In addition to the lack of financial resources, the continent is facing difficulties in its supply due to the very strong pressure from developed countries.
