Water Crisis Looms in Northern Morocco as Rural Officials Plea for Urgent Action

Faced with the persistence of the situation related to the supply of drinking water experienced by some rural populations, officials in the northern region of Morocco have sounded the alarm, calling for urgent measures to avoid the worst.
These are the presidents of rural municipalities in the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region who sent a note to the supervising minister, Nizar Baraka, on the danger looming over the North region, reports Al Akhbar.
According to them, the situation related to the management and distribution of drinking water is catastrophic. The reason is that several negative indicators have appeared at the beginning of the summer season, including disruption in the "regular" supply and consumption of drinking water during Eid Al Adha, they stressed.
To address this, these officials have recommended the implementation of urgent measures to ensure the supply of drinking water to the inhabitants of these areas. In this sense, the ministry launched a awareness campaign entitled "Stop wasting water" at the end of June, thus encouraging consumers to preserve resources and ensure fair distribution of water for all.
