Visually Impaired Protesters Attempt to Confront Moroccan King’s Convoy in Marrakech

Unemployed visually impaired and blind graduates decided last Thursday in Marrakech to intercept the royal convoy to expose their grievances.
They had planned to hold a protest sit-in, while a visit by King Mohammed VI was scheduled in the city. Having been informed of the organization of the movement, the police were mobilized to put an end to it, reports Assabah.
The headquarters of the Unified Socialist Party (PSU) hosting a meeting of the association of unemployed visually impaired and blind graduates, its surroundings were therefore secured, especially since the meeting was scheduled to end with a march.
The newspaper recalls that for more than eight years, the visually impaired and blind have felt marginalized and have been fighting to have access to the civil service. A struggle, for the moment, unsuccessful since they do not even have the right to an allowance.
