Violent Hazing at Moroccan Mining School Sends Two Sisters to Hospital

A hazing session turns into a tragedy and sends two seriously beaten and injured sisters to the hospital. Video sequences have been widely shared on social media. They show a group of students violently beating the two young women. The scene took place in the courtyard of the National School of Mines of Rabat (ENSMR).
The two victims suffer from bruises and wounds. This forced one of them to go to the hospital where the doctor diagnosed a fracture in her hand, reports Al Akhbar.
The story began when a student from the National School of Mines of Rabat (ENSMR) was the victim of violence. She went to complain to her sister, who is also a student at a higher education institution in Rabat. She then accompanied her to the said school to protest to the administration.
But, she was attacked by students who sprayed her with water, kicked her and dragged her into the middle of the courtyard. Some witnesses, instead of rushing to the aid of the young woman, stood as spectators, delighting in the drama unfolding before them.
The victim, according to the newspaper, suffered from bruises, wounds and had respiratory problems that required her to be taken to the hospital.
Several student associations from higher education institutes, according to the newspaper, have called for the abolition of hazing during the welcome of new arrivals in higher schools and in preparatory classes, given the excesses it entails.
