Veteran Moroccan Journalist and Political Analyst Mohamed Lachhab Dies at 72

Journalist and writer, Mohamed Lachhab died, Sunday, January 10, 2021, in a clinic in Rabat, following a chronic illness. He was 72 years old.
Born in Fez in 1950, the deceased began his career in the press at the daily Al Alam, collaborating on the cultural supplement of the newspaper. He also initiated himself in political analysis there. The career of this political analyst and specialist in Moroccan-Algerian relations is very rich.
He worked for several media. He was editor-in-chief of the newspaper Al Mitaq Al Watani, director of the newspaper Le message de la nation and director of the magazine Le Libéral. He had also headed the Rabat office of the Lebanese newspaper Al Hayatt, the newspaper Al Moustakbal before becoming a correspondent for the MBC television channel, the Lebanese television channel LBC, the French radio RFI, the British channel BBC and Voice of America.
As a writer, Mohamed Lachhab is the author of the play "The Minute Before Zero" which he wrote in 1971. The masterpiece won the award for best theatrical text at a festival. In 1981, he published a book on the Sahara issue entitled "Morocco, Algeria and the Referendum", followed by another also of a political nature bearing the unusual title "The Elect of God".
The journalist leaves behind a daughter.
