Vehicle Registration Fraud Scandal Rocks Moroccan Transport Ministry

A major upheaval took place this week within the regional delegation of the Ministry of Transport in Khemisset, following a case of vehicle registration document forgery.
According to the daily Assabah, an investigation launched by the Regional Command of the Royal Gendarmerie led to the arrest of four suspects, including the director of the vehicle registration center in the city.
Placed in custody since last Tuesday, the four accused were brought before the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of Rabat on Saturday, December 14, to answer the charge of forging vehicle registration documents, the origin of which is still the subject of the Royal Gendarmerie investigation.
About ten vehicles with forged registration documents, bearing the stamp of the Khemisset registration center previously headed by the director, were seized by the investigators.
In addition to the head of the registration center, an employee within the same center, the owner of a towing company, who had tried to bribe the gendarmes by offering a bribe of 200,000 dirhams, and the mastermind of the operations, a member of a national network, constitute the core of this criminal gang.
