Unauthorized Well Drilling by Foreigners Sparks Outrage Near Drought-Stricken Marrakech

Foreigners would have drilled wells without prior authorization in the commune of Oulad Hassoune, near Marrakech. A fact denounced by a human rights association in the Marrakech-Safi region.
These foreigners carried out these works without authorization on their recently acquired farm, denounces the association in a press release relayed by Kech24, stressing that this action has outraged the inhabitants of the region who are suffering the full brunt of the severe drought and water shortage that Morocco is experiencing.
In this difficult context of water stress, the governor of the Marrakech-Safi region and the prefect of the prefecture of Marrakech, Farid Chourak, had decided to close the hammams and car wash stations in order to rationalize water, recalled the association, calling on the regional authorities to prohibit the drilling of wells for private purposes.
