Twitter Suspends Former Moroccan PM Over Controversial Monkeypox Comments

Former Prime Minister Saâdeddine El Otmani is making headlines, but in unflattering terms, by making the link on Twitter between monkeypox and homosexuality.

"The vast majority of cases of the new monkeypox have been transmitted through sexual intercourse and the vast majority of patients are homosexual men, according to the most important study on the subject," the former prime minister and former leader of the Party of Justice and Development (PJD) wrote initially.

As a conclusion, he added that "the lesson to be learned is that what goes against nature is a danger to man, his health, his life and his existence," he added on July 26.

Many Internet users were shocked by the words used by the politician. In response to the comments of Internet users who were outraged by the homophobic nature of his tweet, he told them that they should also report the "French article".

To cut short the debate, Twitter removed the tweet in question, considering that it had "violated its rules".
