New Twist in Tangier Child Abuse Case: Court Orders Psychological Evaluation

In Tangier, the so-called case of satanic rituals involving two children accusing their mother and her relatives of sexual assault is far from over.

Since May, the case has been pending before the Tangier Court of Appeal. Today, the latter requires a new medical examination before rendering its judgment, reports the Arabic-language daily Al Akhbar. Thus, a psychologist should examine the two brothers, now aged 11 and 9, in the very near future in order to have an official report, which will make it possible to have very precise answers as to their version of the facts, delivered before the Judicial Brigade, the investigating judge as well as before the court.

The children’s father had filed complaints in which the two brothers claim to have witnessed orgies organized in their family home in Tangier, but also in other places. They also claim to have witnessed what appear to be satanic rituals, involving their mother, their grandmother’s husband and about ten other people. They also claim that these people sexually assaulted them for several months in their father’s absence. This case broke out in 2020.

On appeal, the accused - including the mother of the two children, a taxi driver, a construction entrepreneur and a woman - say they do not know each other. They also denied their involvement. The father of the two children, for his part, maintains the accusations. He claims that his wife took advantage of his absence to turn the building he rents to individuals into a large brothel. The plaintiff works in Nador.

At first instance, the mother of the victims was sentenced to two years in prison for rape against her children. Some were sentenced to 5 years in prison for sexual assault, while others received only a few months in prison for the same charge. Of all these convicts, four are being prosecuted in custody as part of this case.
