Turkish Organ Trafficking Ring Targets Desperate Moroccan Youth for Kidney Sales

Turkish criminal networks involved in human organ trafficking, in collusion with clinics, are buying the kidney of young destitute Moroccans for 50,000 dirhams. The operation takes place in Turkey.
These networks organize the travel of the donors, whom they present as tourists in Turkey, and take care of their accommodation until the end of their stay, reports Assabah. They circumvent Turkish legislation, which provides that any person convicted of human organ trafficking is liable to 15 years in prison, by manufacturing fake papers for the future donors, and this, with the complicity of certain clinics.
During their stay, they undergo the removal of their kidneys. They are then housed in other hotels before undergoing cosmetic surgery that masks this illegal trafficking. After a few days of convalescence, they return to [Morocco]. On their arrival, they receive 50,000 dirhams for the sold kidney. The sold kidneys are intended for very wealthy Arabs for whom Turkey is the preferred destination for the removal and transplantation of human organs.
According to official statistics, 20,000 patients are on the waiting list for kidney transplants and 2,000 others on the waiting list for liver transplants.
