Tunisian Entrepreneurs Flee Economic Uncertainty, Relocate to Morocco and UAE

Due to the tense socio-political and economic climate, businessmen and their families are fleeing Tunisia to settle in Morocco, the United Arab Emirates or France.
The search for a better environment for their children has prompted businessmen to settle their families in Morocco, Dubai (United Arab Emirates) or France, reports Tunisie numérique. For now, they are managing their businesses from these countries. But they will be forced to sell their property or transfer their companies if the government continues to brandish its threat, that of depriving them of their property on the grounds that they have plundered the people’s money. Otherwise, they will have no choice but to settle permanently in their new countries of residence. This situation will have a negative impact on the country’s economy, as well as on the life of the population. Thousands of employees could find themselves unemployed.
Since 2021, Tunisia has been going through an institutional crisis born of a misunderstanding between the president and the Assembly of People’s Representatives, led by the Islamist party, Ennahdha. In July, Kaïs Saïed had suspended Parliament. A suspension extended sine die in the night of August 23 to 24. Since then, anti-Kaïs Saïed demonstrations have been organized in the country.
