Named best young athlete of the year in Madrid, FC Barcelona striker Lamine Yamal celebrated his trophy in a singular way. The footballer treated himself to a McDonald’s meal during his return flight on a private jet.
The FC Barcelona winger traveled Monday evening to the Spanish capital to attend the Laureus Awards ceremony, an event often considered the Oscars of sports. Dressed in an elegant light blue shirt and pants ensemble, Lamine Yamal received the award for "World Young Sportperson of the Year". This unprecedented distinction rewards the best athlete under 21 years old. During that same evening, tennis players Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka took home the main awards.

As soon as the festivities ended, the 18-year-old prodigy boarded his private jet to return to Catalonia. Far from high-level dietary requirements, the player immortalized his journey by posing next to his new trophy with a late meal. On the menu of this snack: a portion of fries, chicken nuggets and a soft drink. A nutritional indulgence that his coach Hansi Flick should easily tolerate given his current performances.
