Trappes Mayor's Re-election Challenged: Opponent Files Appeal Citing Irregularities

Othman Nasrou, a historic opponent of Ali Rabeh, mayor of Trappes, re-elected in the first round of a by-election organized after the cancellation of the 2020 election, has filed an appeal with the administrative court of Versailles.

Will Ali Rabeh’s re-election, close to Benoît Hamon’s Génération.s movement, be canceled again? His main opponent, Othman Nasrou, a French citizen of Moroccan origin close to Valérie Pécresse (Libres!) has filed an appeal with the administrative court of Versailles, reports Le Monde. He claims that Ali Rabeh is guilty of "several serious acts, substantial irregularities and fraudulent maneuvers that may constitute a criminal offense". Othman Nasrou accuses him of continuing to run the town hall of Trappes after the cancellation of his 2020 election by the administrative courts.

To support his claims, he mentions an email concerning an unhealthy housing file that the campaign director of Ali Rabeh allegedly sent to the general manager of Trappes services in September 2021 and gave him instructions, specifying that "the word" of his candidate "is at stake". For Othman Nasrou, this email is proof that his rival continued to manage the town hall "for electoral purposes". He denounces "a substantial illegality" and asks the administrative court of Versailles to cancel the re-election of this close to Benoît Hamon’s Génération.s movement. "I let justice take its course, but it will never be a question for me of accepting that the rules of the Republic are flouted," he insisted.
