Tragic Migrant Shipwreck off Morocco Coast Claims 12 Lives Near Casablanca

The Moroccan police were able to recover 12 bodies of migrants on the beach of Zénata near Casablanca after the sinking of a boat carrying more than 50 migrants to Spain.
The services of the Royal Gendarmerie and Civil Protection found 5 bodies on the "Ennahla" beach in Zénata, near Casablanca, on September 30, reports Hespress. The same source indicates that the police had found 7 bodies, including that of a 20-year-old woman, on September 28.
The deceased were part of a group of more than 50 irregular migrants being transported to Spain by boat. However, the boat capsized at sea.
In total, 12 people were victims of this shipwreck. 3 other victims were found unconscious. They were taken to the Provincial Hospital of Moulay Abdellah to receive care.
Subsequently, the police arrested the person in charge of the immigration operation in Mediouna, in the suburbs of Casablanca, according to Hespress. He was taken into custody.
For its part, the Royal Gendarmerie had arrested two other members of the illegal immigration network. It is continuing its investigations to apprehend other accomplices.
For the time being, the Moroccan police are still searching for other victims, with the help of Royal Gendarmerie planes and military boats.
