Tragedy Strikes: Young Man Collapses and Dies During Friendly Football Match in Tangier

The tragedy occurred on a local pitch in the Bir Chifa neighborhood, reports the local site Tanja24, which specifies that the victim left the pitch to catch his breath after suddenly feeling tired. The young man then collapsed, causing commotion among his companions and relatives.

On social media, tributes have multiplied, particularly from local associations and the victim’s relatives, whose identity has not been disclosed. Emergency services and civil protection had meanwhile quickly responded to take care of the body.

Unfortunately, this type of accident is not uncommon in football. In the past, many professionals have been victims of heart attacks while on the pitch. Abdelhak Nouri is probably the best known of them in Morocco. The young Dutchman of Moroccan origin suffered a cardiac arrest while his club was playing a friendly match. Since then, he has been in a coma.
