Toxic Tide: Industrial Sewage River Swamps Popular Beaches, Authorities Silent

While the scandal related to the sewage leak at Marina Bay Tanger is not yet a thing of the past, an enormous sewage stream appears and flows directly into the beaches of "Metragaz" and "Sidi Kacem", on the territory of the municipality of Gzenaya. Enough to ruin the holidays of summer visitors and the population.
This is a phenomenon that is observed every year. At the origin of this phenomenon, the presence of a sewage canal coming from the industrial area near the sites. Contrary to previous years, the scale of the pollution has this time exceeded all forecasts. According to many citizens, the wastewater from the industrial area has turned into a river, polluting the sand and the beach in an unprecedented way.
While this environmental pollution threatens public health and tarnishes the image of these beaches known to attract visitors, the local and municipal authorities, it seems, remain silent, without providing any explanation or taking concrete measures to address this environmental issue. Exasperated, the residents and visitors of the beach are calling for the opening of an urgent investigation to identify the source of this pollution, determine the responsibilities and take the necessary measures to protect the two beaches against continuous deterioration.
They have also called for the adoption of sustainable solutions for the treatment of wastewater before its discharge, in order to avoid the repetition of such disasters that threaten the marine wealth and the tourist activities of the region.
