Tourist Scam Alert: Marrakech Merchant Sells 10-Dirham Soap for 2,800 Dirhams

In Marrakech, some merchants continue to defraud foreign tourists, damaging Marrakech’s image as a safe and reliable tourist destination.
Yet another victim of a scam in Marrakech. A merchant located in Bab Mellah, in the Medina of Marrakech, sold a soap to a foreign tourist claiming it was made from herbs and natural products and contained argan oil, glycerin oil, as well as other natural oils and products for the sum of 2800 dirhams, reports Kech24. The foreign tourist was greatly surprised to discover just after the purchase that the same product was sold in other shops for only 10 dirhams.
The foreign tourist immediately returns to the first merchant to get her money back. He gives her 2400 dirhams instead of 2800 dirhams on the grounds that the sum of 400 dirhams deducted represents the explanations he had provided her and the tea he had prepared.
