Torrential Rains Cause Severe Flooding and Damage in Morocco’s Chefchaouen Province

The province of Chefchaouen is on high alert, following the torrential rains that have hit all the municipalities. Significant material damage has been recorded throughout the region.
The floods caused by the heavy rainfall have resulted in damage to road networks, homes and shops, as can be seen in the many videos circulating on social media.
The villages of Beni smith, El Jebha, Mtioua, Taghsa and Amtar have also been affected by this onslaught of bad weather, which has devastated the majority of precarious dwellings.
At a time when a state of emergency has been imposed by the Moroccan authorities to curb the coronavirus epidemic, it was difficult for shop owners to assess the extent of the losses caused by these floods.
