Toddler Dies from Scorpion Sting in Morocco as Hospital Lacks Antidote

A 3-year-old child succumbed last Saturday to a scorpion sting in the Azilal region. An investigation has been opened.
According to Barlamane, the little boy was playing in front of the family home in Dour Afouzar (commune of Ait Mhamed) when he was stung by a scorpion.
Alerted, the victim’s parents rushed him to the health center in the commune. Unfortunately, the health facility did not have an antidote.
His parents then evacuated him to the provincial hospital where he succumbed to the venom. Once the child’s death was confirmed, his body was taken to the morgue for an autopsy.
An investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office to determine the ins and outs of this case.
