Tiflet Child Rape Case: Appeal Trial Delayed as Moroccan Rights Advocates Rally for Victim

The appeal trial of the three individuals accused of raping an 11-year-old girl in Tiflet, which was to be held on Thursday, has been postponed to Thursday, April 13 at the request of the victim’s team of lawyers, supported by influential figures such as Mohammed Sebbar, former Secretary General of the National Human Rights Council, and Me Aïcha Guellaâ, President of the Moroccan Association for the Defense of Victims.
The criminal chamber of the Court of Appeal of Rabat, composed of five judges, agreed by validating the form of the file and accepting the postponement in order to proceed with the hearing of the young girl and a witness, the defense of the victim said.
This atrocious incident of rape of a minor has aroused strong emotion in Moroccan public opinion. Women’s and children’s rights defense associations have firmly expressed their support for the victim and their outrage at such an act.
Thus, the postponement of the trial is eagerly awaited by all the parties involved in this case, in the hope that justice will be served for the young victim and that the perpetrators will be severely punished.
