Three Moroccan Police Officers Jailed in Custody Death Investigation

The investigating judge of the Tetouan Court of Appeal has decided to prosecute three police officers from the Martil police station (prefecture of M’diq-Fnideq) in the case of the death of a person in custody.
The three agents are being prosecuted for mistreatment, violence resulting in death, and falsification of official documents. The defendants have already been suspended by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and an in-depth investigation has been opened by the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ), under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, in order to determine the causes and circumstances of the victim’s death who was in custody.
The victim, detained at the Martil police station for a theft case, died at the beginning of October, while being transported for the second time to the hospital by ambulance. The investigating judge of the Tetouan Court of Appeal ordered the detention of the three agents in the local "Somal" prison, pending the completion of the investigation.
