They are trying to deprive Walid Regragui of his merits

The convincing victory of the Atlas Lions against Zambia (3-0) was not enough to extinguish the rumor. Some echoes suggested that the winning game plan would have been dictated, or at least influenced, by the National Technical Directorate (DTN) during a last-minute meeting. Fathi Jamal wanted to put an end to these speculations, describing these allegations as pure inventions far from the reality on the ground.

To remove any ambiguity, the federation official recalled the rules of the game: Walid Regragui is the sole master on board. The national team operates as an autonomous entity where the coach assumes full responsibility for technical aspects and team compositions. The DTN, he specifies, is limited to a support role available only upon the coach’s request, without ever interfering in the decision-making process.

Fathi Jamal sees in this controversy an unfair attempt to deprive the coach of the merit that is due to him. He insists that the successful tactical adjustments observed on the pitch are the exclusive work of Regragui and his staff. The official concludes with a call to order: in the midst of the competition, attacking the coach amounts, according to him, to destabilizing the entire national team when unity and stability are required.
