Technical Issue Briefly Reduces Algerian Gas Flow to Spain, Supply Uninterrupted

The flow of Algerian gas to Spain has not been interrupted "at any time", assures the Spanish company Enagás, after the Algerian company Sonatrach announced on Sunday the reduction of the flow due to an incident "on the Spanish side" of the Medgaz, the gas pipeline that connects the two countries.
"A technical incident has caused a slight reduction in the gas flow to Spain, but the flow has not been interrupted at any time," the Spanish company Enagás told El Debate. According to some industry sources, the incident did not occur "on the Spanish side" of the Medgaz, as announced by the Algerian company Sonatrach, but rather on Algerian soil, during maintenance work at the Beni Saf compression station of the gas pipeline.
This reduction in gas flow to Spain, although it has nothing to do with the crisis in Algeria, is a new blow for Spain, especially since the Medgaz is the only gas pipeline that brings gas into the country since Algeria closed the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline crossing Morocco at the end of October, due to tensions with the kingdom.
Sonatrach controls 51% of the shares of Medgaz, and Naturgy holds the remaining 49%. The infrastructure is managed by Enagás, which was able to verify that the flow has not been completely interrupted due to this incident.
