Tangier Plans 200-Hectare Zoo to Boost Tourism and Economy

Tangier is working on the realization of its zoo project, which should contribute to the revitalization of economic activity, the tourism sector and other activities in the region.
In Tangier, the zoo project is progressing. For a year, the studies related to this project aimed at revitalizing economic activity, the tourism sector and other activities in the region have been carried out. Currently, the municipality is looking for a plot of land of about 200 hectares. During the last ordinary session of the city council, it was decided to go through the formula of expropriation for public utility, in order to obtain the land, reports the Arabic daily Al Akhbar. In this sense, the council decided to set up a commission to explore the land that could be the subject of expropriation and launch the project.
The governor of the city of Mombasa (Kenya), Hassan Joho, is the origin of this project. During his visit to the Tangier town hall two years ago, he had wished that a multisectoral partnership be established with the Tangier town hall. In this regard, he had proposed the project of the large zoo park which should extend over nearly 208 hectares.
