Tangier Official Jailed in Spanish Visa Fraud Scandal at Consulate

The vice-president of the Bni Makada district in Tangier has just fallen victim to the Schengen visa fraud case that hit the Spanish consulate in Tangier.
The political leader has been placed in pre-trial detention on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office following accusations of fraud and scam, reports the site Al3omk.
Two complaints have been filed against her. On the one hand, a woman from Azemmour claims to have been scammed out of nearly 150,000 dirhams in the hope of obtaining a visa for Spain. On the other hand, two employees of the Spanish consulate have also filed a complaint, claiming to have been unjustly implicated in this case and demanding damages for the harm suffered.
These events come after revelations in the Spanish press, which unveiled the existence of a visa fraud network that has been active for four years, facilitating the illegal entry of Moroccan citizens into Spain and the entire Schengen area. This was followed by an investigation launched by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
