Tangier’s Medina Poses Accessibility Challenges for Disabled Tourists

Many disabled tourists experience difficulties in moving around the city of Tangier, especially in the medina, due to the inaccessibility of the roads.
The authorities in charge of tourism in Tangier have been struggling for years to find a solution to this recurring problem related to the movement of tourists with reduced mobility in the city during the summer season.
Yet, the solutions are not lacking, assure local associations, evoking the provision of wheelchairs and escorts, the availability of electric wheelchairs or the definition of a special itinerary to facilitate the movement of these people with reduced mobility.
The impracticability of the roads, especially in the medina, complicates the lives of the disabled who are unable to enjoy their holidays and discover the tourist potential of the city.
