Tangier Builds New Underpasses for 2025 Africa Cup and 2030 World Cup

In preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) and the 2030 World Cup that Morocco is preparing to host, new underpasses will be built in Tangier to facilitate the circulation of residents and tourists.
Two new underground passages will be built near the large stadium in Tangier. This involves the construction of an underpass at the level of Moulay Rachid Avenue, north of the stadium, and the construction of a 1000 m long tunnel on the Avenue de l’Armée Royale, south of the stadium. The project also includes the improvement of the stadium’s surrounding infrastructure to meet international standards and ensure smooth traffic flow during championship periods.
The construction of these underpasses should not only reduce travel times, facilitate traffic around the sports village in the Ziaten district and reduce pressure on the main roads, but it will also strengthen the city’s attractiveness as a tourist and sports destination. This initiative is part of a broader plan to develop the city and prepare for the reception of visitors from around the world during the 2025 CAN and the 2030 World Cup.
