Tangier Authorities Demolish Senior Official’s Illegal Café Terrace in Public Domain Crackdown

The authorities in Tangier have proceeded to demolish the terrace of a café located in the "Trial Atlas" area belonging to a local senior official. The reason given: the construction of this terrace on the public domain "without legal basis".
This demolition is part of the enforcement of the law on the use of the public domain and commercial activities.
The sources specify that other café terraces in Tangier, also in a situation of illegal occupation of the public domain, should suffer the same fate in the coming days.
This action is part of a broader campaign aimed at freeing the public domain in Tangier. A few days ago, the authorities had already proceeded to dismantle informal markets in the neighborhoods of Beni Makada and Mesnana, which were causing nuisance to the residents and hindering traffic.
These operations are not without eliciting mixed reactions. Some see it as a necessary measure to enforce the law and public order, while others fear that they may be detrimental to small businesses and the local economy.
