Swedish Priest Converts to Islam, Relocates to Morocco at 75

At the age of 75, a Swedish priest has decided to convert to Islam and settle in his new country of adoption: Morocco. He even changed his first name.
Ahmed Schjetne, a priest for 30 years in a Swedish church, has devoted much of his life to refugees. In 2017, the man, inspired by a young Moroccan he was hosting at his home, began to question his Christian faith.
Leif Schjetne then decides to convert to Islam, change his first name and, much to the dismay of the pastorate of Skillingaryd where he had spent 15 years, leave to settle in Morocco, reports the local press.
Ahmed’s journey from Christianity to Islam has since been the subject of a documentary, aired on September 8 on the Swedish channel SVT Play. For this, the filmmakers, who titled the film "The Confession", traveled to Morocco to collect the testimonies of the former priest and his new life.
