Suspected Cybercriminal Arrested in Marrakech: Franco-Algerian Accused of Bank Data Theft

The police have put an end to the activities of a suspected cybercriminal. A 20-year-old man, holding dual French and Algerian nationality, was arrested on Thursday evening in a luxury hotel in Marrakech. He is suspected of having hacked banking data to finance a lavish lifestyle.
It was a national search warrant issued by the judicial police of the ochre city that allowed the individual to be located and apprehended. Investigators suspect him of having set up a real fraudulent system. He would have used the stolen banking information to make online purchases and reservations in high-end establishments.
During his arrest, the police seized computer equipment that could contain evidence of his activities: a SIM card, a mobile phone and a sum of money whose origin is suspicious.
Placed in custody, the suspect is now being heard by the investigators. The justice system wants to shed light on this case and identify any possible accomplices.
