Suspect in Teen’s World Cup Death Attacked in Overcrowded French Prison

The perpetrator of the assault that took the life of Aymane on the night of the France-Morocco match in the World Cup, has been assaulted in prison. The guards warn about the overcrowding of the prison.
The incident, which occurred in the early morning of June 20, was reported by the detainee’s family, reporting extortion, threats and an assault. The latter is suspected of causing the death of a 14-year-old boy of Moroccan origin following an accident in Montpellier, after France’s victory over Morocco during the Football World Cup last December.
During the intervention, the guards found the detainee injured and proceeded to search his cell, which revealed the presence of several phones, cannabis and white powder, reports L’Indépendant.
The detainee, who had been placed in solitary confinement for his own safety upon his arrival at the prison, had been transferred to ordinary detention in March 2023 to free up space.
