Suspect Arrested in Nador for Producing and Trafficking Counterfeit Alcohol

An individual with a criminal record in counterfeiting and smuggling was arrested on Monday in Nador. He is accused of being allegedly involved in a case of preparation and trafficking of alcoholic beverages and harm to public health.
The operation set up by the judicial police elements of the regional security of Nador made it possible to arrest the suspect on board a light vehicle in the city of Salouane, indicates a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). He was in possession of 228 bottles of alcoholic beverages bearing the name of a false commercial brand.
The searches carried out at the suspect’s home in Nador made it possible to seize 50 liters of raw medical alcohol, 1,630 bottle caps, 1,238 labels of a foreign wine commercial brand, 2 liters of flavors of a wine brand and a concentrate of an alcoholic beverage, as well as a lot of equipment and bottles used in this criminal activity.
According to the results of the investigations, all the seized alcoholic beverages are counterfeit. They are manufactured in a workshop located at the suspect’s home. To make these adulterated beverages, the defendant mixes smuggled medical alcohol with the flavor of alcoholic beverages under conditions likely to harm public health, before proceeding to bottle them with labels of a false commercial brand. He then resells them on the market as if they were real foreign alcoholic beverages.
Arrested, the defendant was placed in custody for the needs of the investigation.
