Survey: 90% of Moroccans Support Reopening Border with Algeria

9 out of 10 Moroccans are in favor of reopening the Moroccan-Algerian borders, according to the results of a public survey conducted by the Moroccan Center for Policy Studies and Analysis.
These data were revealed during a press conference organized in Rabat, in parallel with other findings of the survey on "Maghreb integration 2020".
Conducted between October 15 and December 15, 2019, the survey was carried out on a random sample of 1,200 Moroccan citizens, spread across 12 regions of the kingdom.
83% of the respondents attribute the lack of stability within the Arab Maghreb Union to the Moroccan-Algerian conflict, knowing that the region has the lowest rate in the world in terms of political and economic integration.
The territorial blockade imposed by the two neighboring countries since the beginning of the Sahara conflict has resulted in a deficit in trade exchanges between the countries of the Maghreb region, reduced to 5% of the overall activity of the Union at the international level.
