Survey: 37% of Moroccans Distrust Government’s COVID-19 Response

A survey has revealed the public’s perception of the Covid-19 pandemic and public policies. The results of this poll showed that 37% of Moroccans do not trust the Head of Government.
This study was conducted between June and September 2020 by the Policy Center for the New South based on 3 waves of surveys carried out by IPSOS. It was carried out as soon as activities resumed in the country. According to the analysis of these surveys, Moroccans have diversely appreciated the measures implemented by the government to counter the pandemic.
While some have expressed their confidence in the medical profession (86%), the sovereign institutions (71%), others have expressed their concern about the country’s health future and the economic repercussions for the Kingdom.
As for the categories of people concerned by this decline in confidence, there are the traditional leaders (-3% compared to June, reaching a level of 38% of people "rather confident" or "completely confident") and much more the "mayors". In detail, 34% of people declare themselves "rather confident" or "completely confident", with a decrease of 12% compared to the month of June.
Furthermore, 37% of respondents do not trust the Head of Government Saâdeddine El Otmani against 43% who declare themselves dissatisfied with his actions.
